Following a solid freshman year with Washington (7.4 PPG + 4.3 APG), the backup floor general came to play in her first outing with the V’s. She finished third in scoring with 14 tallies while splashing four big 3’s. More importantly, she played with a sense of joy and unrivaled energy that every team needs from it’s role players.
Sydney Colson was an impressive pickup to pilot the bench unit this season, but if Amber Cox could plop Vanloo’s gritty 3&D nature behind Caitlin Clark there could be seriously scary hours ahead for the rest of the league.
Keep an eye on Julie Vanloo as a prime trade target for the Fever to pursue prior to this season’s deadline, and keep an eye on her Valkyries in the meantime because she will play a large part in how successful their pilot season plays out.
